Federal Guidelines

What qualifications are required to become a QMRP?

In talking to people from across the country we find that generally, it’s a Bachelor’s degree in a human service related field and one years experience in direct service with people with developmental disabilities. This comes from the federal ICFMR regulations which are cited in the attached document (See Federal Guideline Button on this page). Click here to download Federal Guidelines.  It is also subject to state by state interpretation.

We are also frequently asked about QMRP certification programs and, while we’ve heard about certification programs in development, at this time we are unaware of any. Because of the frequent requests, a QMRP certification program is currently being explored and developed. If you have ideas or want to give input, please contact us.
