Call for Papers for the 13th National Conference of QMRPs:
“Feeling Good About Quality”
All proposals must be received by February 18, 2008
General Information
The National Association of QMRPs (NAQ) was formed in 1996 as the result
of a recognized need by QMRPs and other similar professionals such as
case managers to establish a strong national network addressing those
issues that concern QMRPs today. The NAQ provides a forum to share
information pertinent to the diverse interests of QMRPs and other
professionals working in the developmental disabilities field. The 2008
Annual Conference of the NAQ will be held August 5-8, 2008, at the
Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee.
Preparing Your Proposal
All proposals must be written in English. They should be submitted in
their final form. The steering committee of the NAQ is asking that
“people first” language be utilized in all presentations. Should you
need assistance in this area please contact us directly. Please be sure
to confirm the availability of all presenting authors before mailing.
Please include a 1-2 page abstract of the proposed conference
presentation and a short session description (50 words or less) that may
be used in our conference program book. This should be labeled: “Session
Description”.
Presentation Formats
Poster Session-consists of a
physical display of information. The conference program committee will
organize posters into related themes and place them within a visible area
during the Wednesday and Thursday conference dates.
Paper Address-individual, oral presentations
within the program or managerial areas that can be either 60 or 90
minutes long.
Program Sessions should address the issues confronting QMRPs today,
including but not limited to advocacy, assessment, behavioral
interventions, quality enhancement, specific populations, etc.
Managerial Sessions should address the issues confronting managers
today and in the future such as supervisory training, staff
development, management of financial resources, recruitment and
retention of staff, leadership skills, etc.
Panel Discussion-consists of several speakers who address a
particular issue or question of interest to QMRPs and/or managers.
Interaction occurs between both the panel and the audience in 60 or
90 minute segments.
Final Preparation for All Proposals
1. Download the proposal information form, complete and return it along
with the abstract and session description.
2. Include current resumes for each presenter.
3. Download the audio/visual equipment form, complete and return.
4. Mail by February 18, 2008 to: NAQ, Attention: Holly Janczak, 100
North Gougar Road, Joliet, IL 60432, 815-485-9145 (fax).
5. All presenters must register for at least one day of the conference.
Exceptions to this must be approved.
6. Most communication will be done by email. Please ensure that we have
your current email address at all times.
Review of Proposals
The program committee will review proposals for their relevance to the
conference theme, issues confronting QMRPs and managers, content
quality, clarity, and compatibility with the overall program. Decisions
of the program committee regarding acceptance and scheduling are final;
they will be made by March 15, 2008. The contact person will be notified
by telephone or mail as to the status of the proposal.
